Definition

The number of people who have died from unintentional poisoning is calculated per 100,000 people in the population. The indicator is based on the UN definition and covers three causes of death:

  • poisoning of undetermined intent,
  • accidental poisoning by medicinal drugs
  • other poisoning related accidents and
  • accidental poisoning by narcotics, psychodysleptics, and psychotropic substances

The figures are obtained from the Danish Health Data Authority’s Health Data Bank on 24 March 2026. Source: Cause of Death Statistics 2002–2024 (published 27 February 2026).
