The National Centre for Environment and Energy (DCE) estimated in 2023 that, on average, air pollution caused 3350 premature deaths annually in Denmark during the period 2021–2023. DCE regularly publishes updated status reports and revised model calculations. The majority of the premature deaths are due to exposure to PM2.5 particles.
