By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution.

14.1.1: Eutrophication index and plastic debris
Definition
Sub-indicator a, coastal eutrophication: The indicator is based on the UN definition, which contains several possible proxy indicators. The source is miljøtilstand.nu. Sub-indicator b, density of floating plastic debris: In 2020 the amounts of marine litter in all investigated areas were above the threshold value of 20 items of waste per 100 m of beach, which has been proposed by the EU TG-ML (Technical Group for Marine Litter) and adopted by the coordination group for the EU's Marine Strategy Directive.
