    Definition

    The indicator is calculated by Statistics Denmark, based on Land Accounts and population statistics. It shows how land used for built-up areas have developed in comparison to population growth. When the indicator is above 1, land consumption has increased more than population. Land used for agricultural crops is not included. Development in both land consumption and population is calculated as an annual average over the previous 5 years, so the indicator for 2021 reflects the developments in the period 2016-2021.
