Sentiment indicators for business

The economic sentiment indicator is compiled from the business surveys for manufacturing, construction, services and retail trade as well as the consumer confidence indicator. The calculation of the business sentiment indicator is based exclusively on the four sectoral confidence indicators. The indicators give us a hint of economic trends.

Introduction
The indicators included in the economic sentiment indicator are standardised and weighted, so that manufacturing is given 40 per cent weight, construction 5 per cent, services 30 per cent, retail trade 5 per cent, and consumer confidence 20 per cent. In the weighting of the business sentiment indicator, the consumer confidence indicator is not included, and the weight of the 20 per cent is distributed proportionately on the four sectors.
